Indonesia’s Global Movement of Water Crisis Issue

After successfully hosting three-time groundbreaking global event, LIVE EARTH: The Concert for a Climate Crisis in July 2007, over the past few months, Live Earth and Dow will again be hosting a remarkable event to raise the society awareness and funds to help solving the global water crisis, entitled Dow Live Earth Run for Water. This year, Indonesia received an honor to be participating in this global event for the first time which is simultaneously performed in more than 40 countries around the world.

The Dow Live Earth for Water will be taking place on April 18th, 2010 at Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park, Bali, Indonesia. This remarkable event will feature a series of 6 km runs/walks (the average distance many women and children walk everyday to secure water) from Tirta Agung GWK Cultural Park to the Water Village, lively music concerts and water education activities.

The government of Indonesia through Minister of Culture & Tourism Mr. Jero Wacik and State Minister of Youth and Sport Mr. Andi Malarangeng are supporting the Dow Live Earth Run for Water event. Through the support of the government, this event is expected to convey its message to all segments of local communities regarding the impact of water crisis that strike many areas not only in Indonesia but also throughout the world.

In addition to support from the Government of Indonesia, Live Earth also has the support from national figures, musicians and celebrities including Mr. Prof. Dr. Sarwono Kusumaatmadja as a representative of Wanadri, Mr. Ir. Rachmat Witoelar, representatives from National Council on Climate Change (DNPI), Mr. Dr. Ir. Roestam Sjarief, expert Source Water Resources, Mrs. Amanda Katili Niode, the representative of Indonesia The Climate Project (TCP Indonesia).

Slank, Glenn Fredley, Dwiki Dharmawan, Nugie, Dik Doang, DJ Anton, Christian Sugiono, Nadine Chandrawinata, Shahnaz Haque, Farhan, Fla., and Cici Panda will also lend their names and their time to support of this important cause.

Ten percent of all registration fees will be donated to the Indonesia NGO beneficiary, Indonesia Water Partnership to build clean water installation.
